About Cine Filter

Cine Filter is an iOS app that helps you discover movies by filtering across genres, years, ratings, languages, and more. Movie data is powered by The Movie Database (TMDB).

Account & Sign-In

How do I sign in?

Cine Filter offers three ways to get started:

  • Sign in with Google — uses your Google account
  • Sign in with Apple — uses your Apple ID; you can choose to share or hide your email
  • Continue as Guest — use the app without an account (your preferences won’t be saved across devices)

I’m having trouble signing in. What should I do?

Try these steps:

  1. Check that you have an active internet connection.
  2. Make sure you’re running the latest version of Cine Filter and iOS.
  3. If using Sign in with Google, ensure the Google app is installed and signed in.
  4. Force-quit and reopen the app.
  5. If the problem persists, email us with your device model and iOS version.

How do I delete my account?

Go to Settings → Account → Delete Account inside the app. This permanently removes your account and all associated data within 30 days. Alternatively, email customer_support_penvy.cc with the subject “Delete my account.”
Can I switch from Guest mode to a signed-in account?

Yes. Open Settings inside the app and tap “Sign in.” Note that filters and preferences saved in Guest mode are stored only on your device and may not transfer.

Movies & Filters

Where does the movie data come from?

All movie information, posters, and metadata are provided by The Movie Database (TMDB). This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.
A movie is missing or has incorrect information. Can you fix it?

Movie data is sourced directly from TMDB. To correct or add missing information, please contribute the correction to TMDB directly. Updates will appear in Cine Filter once they’re live on TMDB.
Why are some posters or images not loading?

This is usually a network issue or a temporary outage of the TMDB image service. Check your connection and try again. If the problem continues for more than a few hours, please let us know.
How do I save a filter or favorite a movie?

Tap the heart or bookmark icon on any movie’s detail screen. Saved items are visible in the “Saved” tab. (You’ll need to be signed in for these to sync across devices.)

Ads & Privacy

Why does Cine Filter show ads?

Cine Filter is free to use and supported by advertising via Google AdMob. Ads help us cover hosting costs and continue developing the app.
What is the “Allow App to Track” prompt I see?

This is Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt. It asks whether we may use your device’s advertising identifier to deliver more relevant ads. Choosing “Ask App Not to Track” is fine — you’ll still see ads, just non-personalized ones.
How do I change my tracking preference later?

Go to iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking, find Cine Filter in the list, and toggle the permission.
What data does Cine Filter collect?

See our full Privacy Policy for details. In short: account info from your sign-in provider, a Firebase user ID, device identifiers for ads, and basic diagnostic data.

Technical Issues

The app is crashing or freezing. What should I do?

Try these steps in order:

  1. Force-quit and reopen the app.
  2. Restart your device.
  3. Update to the latest version of Cine Filter from the App Store.
  4. Update iOS to the latest version.
  5. Reinstall the app (note: guest data will be lost).

If the issue persists, email us with your device model, iOS version, and a description of when the crash happens.
Cine Filter isn’t loading any movies.

This usually means the app can’t reach TMDB. Check your internet connection, disable any VPN, and try again. If you’re on a cellular connection, ensure Cine Filter has cellular data permission in iOS Settings.
How do I report a bug or request a feature?

Email customer_support_penvy.cc with as much detail as possible. Screenshots, your iOS version, and steps to reproduce help us resolve issues faster.

Subscription & Billing

Is Cine Filter free?

Yes — Cine Filter is completely free to download and use. The app is supported by ads. There are currently no in-app purchases or subscriptions.
